Abstract

Abstract: Even though many studies have been conducted to understand and model the passive response of arteries, very few studies have been performed to develop constitutive equation for the active response of arteries and to perform numerical simulations. In this paper, the diffusion of the neurotransmitter, for example noradrenaline, is combined with the anisotropic constitutive model to describe the temporal contraction of the smooth muscle cells in the artery wall.
