Abstract

Steady-state analysis revealed that self-focusing in waveguides is manifested as a transfer of radiation from the fundamental mode to higher-order modes. This article discusses the investigation of the critical power for self-focusing both in a bulk medium and in a hollow waveguide filled with a gas for a continuous-wave input beam.
