Abstract

Sixteen consecutive elective cardiac catheterization patients underwent gated magnetic resonance imaging in order to attempt to visualize their left main coronary artery (LMCA). Coronary arteriograms and magnetic resonance findings were analyzed and the LMCA measured prospectively by 3 independent observers. The results were then tabulated and compared. Results of this preliminary study indicate that the LMCA can be visualized and fairly accurately measured on magnetic resonance imaging in randomly selected patients.
