Abstract

Pituitary microflow can easily be measured by LDF during transsphenoidal surgery. AL- and PL-microflow differ largely and significantly, being low in the AL and high in the PL, which allows LD-identification of the PL. Mean microflow of AL and adenoma are rather similiar, but discriminant analyses seem to provide significant features for LD-identification of the adenoma. The large fluctuations of all LDF-signals, compared to the blood pressure curve, make probable, that the microflow-pulsatility in all three pituitary compartments is generated by arterial and venous blood pressure changes.
