Abstract
Three cases of meningovascular syphilis with neuro ophthalmological manifestations are presented. In the first case the disease manifested itself by bilateral papillitis with considerable reduction of visual acuity and visual fields. The second case had oculomotor paralysis, Argyll Robertson pupil, ataxia and sensory and mental disturbances. The main manifestations in the third case were motor aphasia, paresis of the limbs, median longitudinal fasciculus syndrome and transient blindness. All three cases improved when antisyphilitic therapy was administered. As the incidence of syphilis has been increasing recently, this disease should be considered in the neuro ophthalmological differential diagnosis.
