Abstract
An image-based method for the mosaicing of ultrasonic volumes is presented. This fully direct and automatic method handles nonrigid deformations, occlusions, noise, and other acquisition-dependent inherent characteristics of ultrasound imaging. A multiresolution method that permits large initial misalignments and a localization technique that extends the degree of elasticity of the warp function are also introduced.
