N2 - The dynamics of a molecule in a one-dimensional two-wave potential, with two time-independent periodic potentials of the same amplitude and periodicity, is examined. The externally-driven potential moves translationally with respect to the other. If one of the potentials is of the ratchet type, the translation of the potential leads to the motion of the molecule in the same direction, while the molecule retains its original location when the translational motion occurs in the opposite direction.
