Abstract
The optical field patterns and optical modes of strained photonic lattices based on arrays of vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers were examined by background-resonator modal expansion analysis. The near- and far-field intensity patterns and the modal gain for the lowest-loss modes in the photonic lattices were calculated as a function of various displacement parameters.
