Abstract

A method is given for the prediction of the effective elastic moduli and coefficients of thermal expansion of composite materials reinforced in three orthogonal directions. The proposed approach is based on the minimechanics analysis of a repeated representative cell of the three-dimensionally oriented fibre composite. Illustrations are given for a carbon/carbon composite.
