METAL-NONMETAL TRANSITION IN M-NH3 SOLUTIONS.

Abstract

The apparent absence of a phase separation in Cs-NH//3 solutions suggests that a different mechanism for the MNM transition may exist there. Therefore, the trends of conductivity or other transport parameters through the transition in Cs-NH//3 may not be the same as in the other M-NH//3 solutions. The authors have measured the conductivity, density and Hall coefficient across the MNM transition in Cs-NH//3 and other solutions so that a comparison can be made and the role of inhomogeneities associated with phase separations determined. There are distinct differences between the solutions which may be correlated with the presence or absence of fluctuations.
