Abstract

Video and performance artist Meiro Koizumi (b. Japan 1976) has dedicated his artistic practice to explore and discuss Japanese culture, especially from staging the contradictory "silenced situations" in social conventions: the boundaries between the spheres of private and public, extreme nationalism; the conflict between duty to be and desire, guilt of the survivor, male sexuality, Japanese historical imagery, machismo etc. This exhibition presents a selection of his most important works.
