Abstract
Mediastinoscopy is a simple procedure for diagnostic exploration and biopsy of lymph nodes of the mediastinum with minimal complications. A positive biopsy was obtained in 47 of 75 patients (62%) and thoracotomy was avoided in these patients. There was no mortality or morbidity following the procedure.
