N2 - The median mandibular cyst seems to be an extremely rare lesion, and a review of the literature revealed only eight well-documented cases. This article reports two additional cases in which the cysts were lined with stratified squamous epithelium. The origin of this lesion is unknown, but the two possibilities that have been suggested are an odontogenic origin and a nonodontogenic origin (fissural cyst). The findings in our two cases support the assumption that the median mandibular cyst has an odontogenic origin.
