Abstract

A system consisting of a carrier satellite and a probe satellite connected by a long ponderous cable is considered. The thrust of a correcting engine installation is applied to the carrier satellite. The steady-state motions of this system (relative equilibrium in the orbital coordinate system) are investigated. It is shown that the equilibrium configurations of the cable have, generally speaking, wave and loop forms. The problem of a rational choice of the parameters of a system, which provide for its realization, is considered.
