Abstract

Short-range correlated nucleon-nucleon pairs are an important part of the ground state structure of nuclei. Approximately 20% of nucleons belong to these temporary, high-momentum fluctuations. These nucleons account for almost all of the high-momentum nucleons in the nucleus. This chapter describes what we know about this important aspect of nuclear structure.
