Abstract
A new method is described for the absorption of the excess energy generated in autonomous solar systems with the use of a variable complementary load. In order to use the excess energy for ventilation of the system, a fan is used as the complementary load. The current flow through the batteries is controlled according to the ampere-hour (A/hr) rule by regulating the fan in such manner that it absorbs all excess power. The energy control unit, including the fan, is part of a 1.6 kw peak, stand-alone, solar system built at Tel-Aviv University.
