Abstract

In this work, we suggest a partitioning scheme to compute the LU decomposition of an augmented moment method matrix rather than the explicit inverse. Basic building blocks which can be computed efficiently, such as bodies of revolutions, can be used as starting points for the procedure. The total computational cost with a given known sub-problem should then be significantly reduced compared with a direct computation of the LU decomposition of the entire matrix.
