Abstract

The electron microscopic findings in a muscle biopsy from a 44 yr old woman with limb girdle muscular dystrophy are reported. In addition to degenerated muscle fibers, intramitochondrial crystalline like inclusions and subsarcolemmal lamellar bodies were found, and an unidentified round body situated below the sarcolemma was observed. It is suggested that intramitochondrial inclusions and lamellar bodies represent a form of muscle response to injury.
