Abstract
This article, part of a broader project, aims to analyse the writings of Antoine Meillet, focusing specifically on what we term his “minor writings”. This category encompasses reviews, prefaces, notes, conference proceedings and newspaper columns, all pertaining to Romance languages, with a particular emphasis on French. In doing so, we highlight the concept of “dual reviews”, referring to books that Meillet assessed more than once – either on the same platform with a new edition or the release of an additional volume, or in different journals, likely to broaden the exposure of the book to a diverse audience. We will elucidate the reasons behind the multiple evaluations of a book, thereby demonstrating the significance Meillet attributed to certain subjects or scholars, thus shaping the landscape of linguistics in his era.
