Left-atrial appendage occluders: Recent advances and unresolved issues

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

Mechanical treatment options for the management of atrial fibrillation are on the contemporary agenda of cardiology. In 2015 a European Heart Rhythm Association/European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions consensus document on catheter-based occlusion of the left-atrial appendage was published, and at that time, it was considered the most comprehensive updated reference on this topic. Since then, numerous publications have been added offering new techniques and additional clinical information regarding long-term outcomes. This chapter reviews the changes that have been introduced to the field since the publication of the aforementioned landmark document.
