Abstract

2 experiments demonstrated latent inhibition in 180 male, albino rabbits, using the pinna reflex to shock. In Exp. I with 60 Ss, the inhibitory effect of nonreinforced preexposure to CS was a function of time between preexposure and acquisition. Exp. II with 120 Ss, investigated the hypothesis that the inhibitory effect of preexposure to CS was a function of the elicitation of alpha responses during CS preexposure. Number of CRs during acquisition was a function of CS intensity and preexposure; however, there was no significant interaction between the 2. This lack of interaction did not support the alpha response hypothesis. (18 ref.) (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved).
