Abstract

Late appearance of autonomous hyperparathyroidism after successful kidney transplantation is an unusual finding. We report on a patient with hyperparathyroidism owing to an adenoma, who had been normocalcemic and had 2 other primary malignancies during the 5-year interim. Parathyroid gland autonomy and 'tertiary' hyperparathyroidism in relation to kidney transplantation also are discussed.
