Abstract

A 6-year-old girl, operated on for juvenile polyposis of the colon, exemplified some of the surgical problems and complications encountered in this rare disease. A temporary ileostomy established after an emergency operation for intussusception was taken down and the continuity of the gastrointestinal tract reestablished with resection of the remaining colon, mucosal proctectomy and ileo-anal anastomosis.
