Ithaka, Odysseus and the Euboeans in the eighth century

Abstract

The enthusiasm surrounding the Euboeans, internalised and disseminated by scholars in the seventies is still with us, but with a major difference. The Euboeans today have acquired, beyond the evidence for their impressive geographical horizons, more temporal depth. They are no longer viewed, somewhat synchronically within a perspective of the eighth-century renaissance
