Abstract

Intramural duodenal hematoma (IDH) is an uncommon lesion usually caused by blunt abdominal trauma such as handlebar injuries and child abuse. Bleeding disorders and anticoagulation therapy are known as potential causes of spontaneous IDH. Intramural duodenal hematoma after endoscopic intestinal biopsy is rare; to our knowledge, by 1998 only 16 cases had been reported in the medical literature. Here we describe a large IDH after endoscopic intestinal biopsy, which sonographically simulated an intestinal polypoid mass.
