Abstract
Herniae are a common complication of treatment with continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD). The diagnosis is often difficult because the hernia may not be apparent, or because the symptoms may mimic peritonitis or other severe abdominal complications. This report describes the occurence of intestinal incarceration in an occult incisional hernia in two CAPD patients. The possibility of this diagnosis must be considered in CAPD patients complaining of severe abdominal pain.
