Abstract

This paper reviews the Israeli experience with international joint ventures. It provides a profile of the foreign and host parents in terms of their relevant characteristics (national and industry affiliation, ownership, number, reputation, objectives, competitive position, and control over the ventures), as well as information on ventures’ performance and management. The findings are compared to those reported in the literature for other countries. Prospects for international joint ventures in Israel in the wake of the recent Free Trade Agreement between U.S. and Israel are assessed, and suggestions for future research are made.
