N2 - We derive and analyzed a two degree-of-freedom collective coordinate (CC) model to describe interactions of a kink soliton with a localized defect mode. Numerical simulations, supported by approximate analytic calculations, reveal a sequence of transmitted and reflected states but no permanent capture within the CC model.
