Abstract

The interaction of a soliton with a localized gain in a fiber Bragg grating was studied. It was observed that, if the loss and gain were larger, the intrinsic vibrations of the pinned soliton become chaotic. The result showed that, without the attractive perturbation of the local refractive index, the local gain cannot maintain a stable pinned soliton.
