abstract = "The spontaneous decay of an emitter's excited state is crucially affected in the far- and mid-infrared ranges by the antenna resonances of the surface plasmon waves in a nearby metallic finite-length single-wall carbon nanotube (SWNT). Pronounced resonances exist in the spectra of the total and radiative spontaneous decay rates of the emitter at the antenna resonance wavelengths. Moreover, enhancement by more than two orders in magnitude of the radiative spontaneous decay rate in comparison with the decay rate in free space occurs at these resonances. In the optical and near-infrared ranges, surface plasmon waves in SWNTs are strongly attenuated and thus the resonances in the emitter decay rate spectra are absent.",
