Abstract

The evaluation of respiratory muscles mechanics was presented. The lung volumes were calculated by integration of the airflow data and the electromyogram (EMG) signals were rectified and filtered with a low pass filter to yield a linear envelope of the signal. The analysis demonstrated an increase in muscle activity in parallel with an increase in breathing efforts.
