Abstract

The transport properties of conventional High Tc ceramics and thin films have been studied under magnetic fields ranging up to 6T. It is shown that the small value of the critical current (between 100 and 1000 A/cm2) is due to a dissipation originating only in the boundaries between the grains. The magnetic behaviour of the samples is perfectly described by the Bean model when the grains are decoupled. Assuming that the Voltage depends only on the induction at the boundaries between the grains, it is possible to deduce the value of the magnetization from the transport measurements.
