In the present work we have carried out measurements of Hhf on Te (TeGd) and I (IGd) impurities in gadolinium. The experiments were performed using the MSssbauer effect (ME) method in 125Te(Ey = 35.5 keV) and 129I(Ey = 27.7 keV). The impurities were produced by the fl-decay of 125Sb and 129mTe respectively, embedded in 99.99~o pure gadolinium. The sources were made by diffusing the radioisotopes into Gd foils. The Gd(Sb) source was made from carrier free 125Sb after thoroughly drying and purifying the commercial solution. The dried sample was encapsulated together with a Gd foil in a quartz tube and heated to 850°C for 5 days under high vacuum. Similarly, the Gd(Te) (0.3~o atomic) source was produced from reactor irradiated ~" elemental * Work supported by the National Science Foundation under grant no. N2 - Mössbauer-effect measurements on 125Te and 129I impurities in gadolinium yield values of hyperfine fields Hhf = -229 kOe and Hhf = -42 kOe respectively. These values are in excellent agreement with Campbell's prediction of the systematics of Hhf for s-p solutes in Gd.
