Abstract

Despite advances in medical therapy of patients with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), including ulcerative colitis (UC), especially in the era of biologic therapy, the 10-year risk of colectomy is 7.5% to 10%1,2 and over time risk is estimated to be as high as 25%.
