Homogeneous sliding modes in the presence of fast actuators

Abstract

It is known that the presence of actuators leads to the deterioration of sliding modes with chattering appearance. It is shown in the paper that the higher the order r of the homogeneous sliding mode the less sensitive it is to fast stable actuators. In particular, with the actuator time constant μ ≪ 1 the sliding variable magnitude is proportional to μr.
