This article considers the systematic extermination of the Jews of Europe by the Nazis during World War II. It will also allude to the historical background of the extermination and to related contemporary circumstances. A first section of the article deals with some aspects of the historical context, a second one will briefly present the immediate setting of the 'Final Solution to the Jewish Question,' while the third and central part will address the extermination per se and the reactions to it.
