Abstract
This paper reviews the current "state of the art" of the theoretical understanding of multiphoton photofragmentation of collision-free molecules. Some problems pertaining to the molecular level structure, to intramolecular dynamics and to the effects of the interaction of intense electromagnetic fields with molecular systems are considered.
