Abstract

Hereditary erythrocyte pyruvate kinase deficiency is reported in an Arab family living in Israel. The proposita developed hemolytic anemia during pregnancy and her anemia disappeared following delivery without treatment. Four affected members of the patient's family were not anemic, although in three of them there was evidence for hemolysis. Two family members had concomitant pyruvate kinase and glucose 6 phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency but were not anemic. (Journal received: 29 March 1976)
