N2 - Topical oxygen therapy (TOT) is used widely in the treatment of difficult-to-heal arterial and venous ulcers in patients with peripheral vascular disease (PVD), diabetic ulcers, and lower extremity venous insufficiency. Successful TOT relies on supplying 100% oxygen at 1.04 atmospheres to the ulcered area. In principle, TOT allows a rapid proliferation of new epithelium over the ulcer. This article describes two case studies with successful wound healing as a result of using this clinical method during hemodialysis sessions.
