Abstract
The low critical current density of granular superconductors makes them attractive for thin film SQUID applications. A survey of the properties of granular superconductors such as granular aluminum, lead and niobium is presented, and the actual performance of some granular SQUIDS is discussed. In addition to their convenient low critical current density, granular SQUIDS also appear to have low intrinsic noise levels.
