Abstract
Atypical mycobacterial arthritis is rare but has been diagnosed more frequently in the last 10 years. An old man with a long history of degenerative arthritis of the knees developed septic arthritis of the left knee due to Mycobacterium chelonei following an injection into the knee and an infection near the left ankle.
