Generating QAM signals with microring modulators

Abstract

A compact scheme for generation of M-ary quadrature amplitude modulation signals is presented using two mutually decoupled microring resonators connected in series. The capabilities of the scheme are demonstrated via generation of 16 QAM by means of simulation.
