Abstract
The article studies a manuscript in Hebrew characters discovered amongst the Cairene collections of Genizah material at Cambridge University Library. The text in Judeo-Spanish is edited and the motifs are discussed. Attempts to fix a delimited character for these Ottoman cultural products according to usual categories (elite vs. popular, sacred/profane, Jewish/Spanish, liturgical/erotic, classical vs. modern) are explored and questioned by appeal to comparative practices.
