Abstract

An interesting problem in music recognition is to be able to listen to any piece of music and determine which musical timbres are heard. A human expert such as a composer can achieve this recognition without any mistakes. Given the properties of timbre, the Fuzzy Expert System Tool (FEST) can determine all the instruments being played in a given piece of music due to FEST's ability to produce multiple conclusions.
