Abstract

We describe the considerable progress made by the Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit of Schneider Children's Medical Center of Israel, since it was established six years ago. Autologous, allogeneic, and unrelated stem cell transplantations are performed for patients with both malignant and nonmalignant disorders. In addition, the unit has introduced two important innovations - peripheral blood stem cell collection in infants and autologous peripheral blood stem cell transplantation in children with acute myelocytic leukemia. Thanks to the existence of this unit, children nationwide may now benefit from comprehensive, high-quality care.
