Abstract

This chapter describes the multitude of uses for flanged scleral fixation in anterior segment surgery and sets the stage for further innovations. The flange technique can be effectively utilized in cases of aphakia, subluxated or dislocated lenses inside or outside of the capsular bag, and for the fixation of anterior segment implants and devices. Surgical decision making is addressed, specific techniques are detailed, and pearls for success are discussed.
