Abstract
It is shown that the adiabatic premixed flame propagating through zero-mean, time-independent, periodic flow-field is quenched provided the flow-field intensity exceeds a certain critical level. It is argued that this effect may be relevant to the experimentally known phenomenon of flame quenching by turbulence.
