Abstract
A patient with the adult type of Gaucher's disease and ascites expired after massive and uncontrollable bleeding from esophageal varices. A liver biopsy performed after death showed massive liver infiltration with Gaucher's cells as well as fibrosis. To the best of our knowledge a similar fatal exsangunation due to bleeding from esophageal varices has not been reported in adult patients with Gaucher's disease.
