Abstract

Presented are here new, approximate, methods for the calculation of photonic supermodes in 1D photonic devices (arrays of coupled planar waveguides, phase-locked arrays of lasers etc.), in which light propagates mainly along the optical axis of the array. These methods propose a simple, fast and quite accurate way for the estimation and prediction of the spatial distribution of the EM field in 1D photonic arrays.
