Abstract

The special characteristics of the K+N interaction and the possible use of the K+ as a probe for various aspects of the strong interaction and nuclear structure are discussed. Preliminary data from a recent measurement of the ratio of total K+ cross-sections on carbon and deuterium at several momenta in the (450÷800) MeV/c region are presented. The preliminary data are inconsistent with «conventional» calculations and agree with calculations assuming the nucleons «swell» in the nucleus.
